FASSBINDER is a project targeted at strengthening the competitive position of the European software industry in service-oriented markets through the study of the evolution of the software industry market, effects of International Factors, and Return on European Research  Investment.

FASSBIDER had the following main goals:

To produce a brief but wide analysis of the past, the current and the future years in software and IT services market, based on a technology-based segmentation.

Once the analysis is performed, investigate a set of the segmented technologies, and determine the RoRI of each one

Perform a Market Watch centred on the effects of other countries in the European S&S economy, in terms of jobs, growth and competitiveness

Process the RoRIs and the market data found within and outside Europe, and produce a set of market conclusions and recommendations for research investment.

One of the main project outputs is the FASSBINDER White Book which compiles all the information generated by the project with the objective of offering to the reader a comprehensive approach as well as short and practical conclusions and recommendations about Research and Return on Investment in the Software and IT Services field.

SEQUOIA and FASSBINDER

To perform the monitoring and impact assessment activities, the SEQUOIA  project draws upon the experience of the FASSBINDER project. SEQUOIA team reviews and enhances the model already developed within the FASSBINDER project  to estimate the Return on Research Investment (RORI).
